Literature is the art of discovering something extraordinary about ordinary people, and saying with ordinary words something extraordinary 

Discerning to acquire learning skills, understanding words of insight, gaining instructions and knowledge, are the motto of our literary club. Institutions of management sciences witnessed The Literary Club’s inauguration which was held with great grandeur and splendor, to entice the young minds to spring up and accomplish various co-scholastic areas of interest and excellence. The program was held during the Diwali celebrations- Tejasvi 2k19 on the campus.

The Literary Club namely, “Page Turners” was inaugurated by Prof. S. K. Gupta, Dean Academics, IMS, and Er. Nidhi Jamwal, Chief Coordinator, IMS to promote the excellence in languages and enrichment of minds of the students.

The Literary Club in the college aims at fostering a love for books and literature among students and promoting literary activities. The wide spectrum of literary activities lined up by the Club includes book discussions, interaction with authors, review writing competitions, literary quizzes, visits to book fairs and libraries, workshops, book-jacket designing competitions, screening of films based on famous books, story-telling competitions – just to name a few.

As a part of social work, the students distributed certain essentials like clothes, food materials, and medicines. They discussed the importance of health and sanitation with the kids of blind schools. The students also motivated them for studies and its benefits. IMS organizes such social work events for students to feel their responsibility towards the society and encourages them to do social activities more often.

Round 1 focussed on word building to understand the varied subject areas, students could think of.

Round 2 dealt with the names of the corporates. The students were quite spontaneous and proactive in this round.

Round 3 was named the business personalities. The winners were awarded goodies to motivate them.

The institute organizes such innovative activities for the management students at a regular interval to keep the students in touch with the business trends.

The session started with a welcome address by Asst. Prof Dr. Meenakshi Sharma.  This was followed by an hour long session by Mr. Rajinder Gupta on how businesses and individuals can use the power of digital technology and social media to improve their brand visibility and positioning to optimise their performance. He explained the various terminologies such as Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Affiliate marketing etc. and discussed the various digital platforms that can be used by the professionals, students and business organizations. The webinar ended with an engaging Q & A session with the students and faculty. The session was concluded by Asst Prof. Ms. Gurshish Kour who thanked Chief Coordinator, Ms. Nidhi Jamwal for her support in organizing the Expert Webinar and presented the formal Vote of Thanks.

In the first round, they were supposed to do the SWOT i.e identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the companies. The qualifying teams were given a task to ponder what new product lines or product developments can be done by those companies.

As new ideas can change the dynamics of the business world, so such brainstorming sessions are the need of the hour. The winners were awarded the recognition certificates.
The feedback about the event was gathered by the students wherein they proposed that such brainstorming sessions could enhance their mental skills.

“The power of a dad in a child’s life is unmatched.” 

Father’s Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. On June 21st,2020 Institute of Management Sciences organized lockdown activities to commemorate the father’s day celebration.

The first contest in the series of events was “THE RECREATE LENS” where contestants clicked a picture with their father and recreated their childhood photograph in the same pose.

The winners of the event were
1st position– Kamil Kour (BBA-4th Sem) & Manav Dhar (BCA-2nd Sem)
2nd position– Preeti Bhat (BBA- 2nd Sem)

The Second contest in the series of events was “ARTISTRY” where the participants fashioned various creations using any kind of art/craft (e.g. Painting, portrait, collage, sand art, etc) to express love for their dad.

Second Position- Navneet Kaur (MBA, IMS)
Third Position- Muskan Bakshi (Civil, YCET)

The last activity was “SPILL THE INK” which was a Creative note writing event on the theme MY DAD MY HERO.

“Page Turners”, The literary club of IMS organized an E-Conclave on the 29th and 30th of May, which provided a virtual platform for the students of IMS and YCET to share their creative intellectual thoughts.

The conclave included four events in which the students participated and showcased their immense talent.

The first event was “Open Panel Discussion” where the participants competed with each other and discussed current events issues.

The next event was “Critical Incident Analysis” where the participants analyzed case studies and presented solutions

The third event of the “Innovative Technological/Business idea presentation” was held

The last event for the conclave was “Thematic Appreciation Test” where the students analyzed an image and created a story out of it.
