IMS Jammu Organizes MoE’s Innovation Cell sponsored Impact Lecture Series
The Institute of Management Science’s IIC club organized the Impact Lecture Series sponsored by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and AICTE on April 4th, 2024. The event commenced with a welcoming address by Director IMS, Dr. Meenakshi Sharma who explained the necessity of holding such events for creating and improving the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in J&K. She apprised the audience with the various initiatives undertaken by IIC cell of the institute.
The resources persons for the event included Mr. Sourab Mengi, Assistant Manager at the Centre for Innovation, Incubation, and Business Modelling, and Dr. Vinod Kumar, Incharge at the Centre for Business Development Regional Office. Mr. Sourab Mengi initiated the series with a presentation on the Overview of J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute, emphasizing the significance of startups in today’s landscape. He apprised students of various government-initiated schemes such as the Seed Capital Fund scheme and Youth startup scheme, along with an overview of the J&K Startup Policy. In the next session Dr. Vinod Kumar, provided an overview of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), elucidating on its types, benefits, and the imperative role of innovation in contemporary society. Dr. Kumar stressed the autonomy of initiating startups with innovative ideas without solely relying on the government sector. He also outlined the process of registering for IPR. The first leg of the event concluded with Director IMS, Dr. Meenakshi Sharma, presenting tokens of appreciation to the esteemed guests.
During the event’s second session, Dr. Vinod Kumar led a business simulation workshop. Students were provided with cash to simulate the creation and sale of products, mimicking real-world scenarios. The day long event concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof J. R Dhotra who thanked the Guest speakers for their valuable time.
