Role play- Teaching pedagogy at IMS
Role Play, or Role Playing, allows a learner to assume the role or tasks of a job by practicing or simulating real working conditions. The objective of role playing is to learn, improve or develop upon the skills or competencies necessary for a specific position. Thus role playing is also used as a teaching pedagogy at Institute of Management Sciences (IMS).
A Role Play activities have been conducted for the students of MBA from time to time. The topics comprises of domain related concepts of marketing and HR. Students enact roles of National Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Salesperson for door to door selling, HR manager conducing interview, student as interviewees for internships to name a few
It helped the students to:
– Analyze problems from various perspectives
– To apply their knowledge to a given problem, to reflect on issues and the views of others
– Trying various solutions in a case scenario
– Developing team-work, co-operation and creative problem solving in groups
