Mission
The mission of the department is to strive for excellence in knowledge of computer applications to meet the global challenge in the field of Information Technology.
BCA
This course is recognised by J&K government and admission is done through the Director College Development Council (DCDC), University of Jammu. The DCDC conducts the counselling and allots the college/institution as per the preference of the candidate, however, subject to the availability of seats in the College/Institute. The total Intake is 110 seats.
Eligibility Criteria
The course is open to a candidate who has qualified Higher Secondary Part-II examination (10+2) pattern of J&K Board of School Education or any other examination recognized as equivalent there to with at least 50% of aggregate marks in case of General Category and 45% marks in case of Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe candidates.
Admission Process
For admission to the course the candidate has to apply to the Director College Development Council (DCDC), University of Jammu. The DCDC conducts the counselling and allot the college/institution as per the preference of the candidate, however, subject to the availability of seats in the College/Institute. The admission fee is to be paid at the time of counselling through a Bank Draft as required in favor of Director College Development Council, University of Jammu. At the time of admission in the Institute the candidate has to be accompanied by his/her guardian. The following documents are to be submitted to the Institute at the time of admission:-
- Seven copies of pass-port size photographs.
- Three copies of marks card of 10th class and Date of Birth Certificate.
- Four copies of marks card of 10+2 examination.
- Provisional Certificate or School/College leaving Certificate.
- Character Certificate.
- Migration Certificate in case the candidate who has qualified 10+2 examination from boards other than J&K Board of School Education.
- Affidavit to be submitted by a candidate who has break in his studies.
BCA Program Objectives
The BCA course is a full time three years (six semesters) Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Application. The basic objective of BCA Course is to provide young professionals with the required knowledge and necessary skills to get rewarding careers into the changing world of Information Technology.
BCA Program Outcomes
Student outcomes describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation. The Computer Science Department must enable students to attain the following:
- An ability to apply knowledge of computing and mathematics appropriate to the discipline.
- An ability to identify, formulate and develop solutions to computational challenges.
- An ability to design, implement and evaluate a computational system to meet desired needs within realistic constraints.
- An ability to function effectively on teams to accomplish shared computing design, evaluation, or implementation goals.
- An understanding of professional, ethical, legal, security, social issues and responsibilities for the computing profession.
- An ability to communicate and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- An ability to analyze impact of computing on individuals, organizations, and society.
- Recognition of the need for and ability to engage in continuing professional development.
- An ability to use appropriate techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing practice.
- An ability to apply mathematical foundations, algorithmic principles, and computer science theory in the modeling and design of computational systems in a way that demonstrates comprehension of the tradeoffs involved in design choices.
- An ability to apply design and development principles in the construction of software systems of varying complexity.
